All tertiary institutions in Nigeria must submit their matriculation lists to the Federal Ministry of Education through the dedicated channel of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) not later than three months after matriculation
ceremonies.
This directive from the Federal Ministry of Education aims to ensure compliance with innovations introduced by JAMB to address admission irregularities.
The adoption of the measure by the Federal Ministry of Education follows allegations of certificate racketeering involving foreign institutions, particularly in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
This directive would ensure that only eligible candidates are graduated as well as participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. JAMB has introduced measures including the matriculation list to ensure transparency and accountability in the admission process, closing doors to illegal admissions.
